Welcome to the Appalachia Star Farm web site. At Appalachia Star Farm, we seek to produce fresh, well-grown vegetables and herbs that are free of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

We choose growing methods intended to build soil fertility, lively ecosystems, and healthy food.  Our practices include crop rotation and diversity, cover crops and row cover.  We add composted manures, minerals and mulch to the soil to provide the necessary nutrients for plant growth and encourage biological activity.  We believe these methods promote a sustainable system and create produce of superior taste and quality.

At Appalachia Star Farm we also raise pastured laying hens and ducks.  These birds enjoy the grass, sunshine, and bugs on our farm and in return they lay delicious and nutritious eggs.  Eggs are available at our market stands, on the farm, and through an egg share in conjunction with our vegetable CSA.

Located in Nelson County, Virginia, we offer our produce through a CSA vegetable subscription and at local farmer’s markets. To learn more about our CSA program, please go to the “CSA info” page. Please enjoy our website, and feel free to contact us for more information or for a farm tour.
